Pet Shop :Unit

We stared our unit off by reading the book The Perfect Pet

After reading the book we had a class discussion on what we would need to do to help the pets.

 We had a class discussion on what types of animals would make good pets and what types of animals would not. 

Pocket Chart Story using the children's names.

The children enjoyed rereading the pet story over and over so that they could hear and see their name.

Small Group Activities

Fish Bowl Letter Bingo

Calling cards are in lowercase letters and the fishbowl mat is uppercase letters.

Counting and Writing

Children were given small cats and dog counters with number mats and dry markers.  Children identified the number on the dog house and then counted out the amount of pets and placed them on the mat.  Once they had completed that they used dry markers to write the number.

Doggy letter match 

Children match the dogs to the right dog house by using the letters on each.

Art Studio

Children had the opportunity to go to the art studio and make pets of their choice.

From Trash to Art

Children were given a variety of items that would of normally been thrown out for trash.  The children create something special Art with all of those trash items.

Spider on the Fence

We had our 1st Family Fall Festival this week and it was a huge successes.  I wish I would of been able to take pictures during the event, but I was way too busy.  I was able to take a picture of the children's spiders that we displayed on the fences for the event.

Aren't they the cutest things.  

Art Studio Makeover

For starters I found a large shelf that would fit in this spot, this gave me more shelves to store items on.

Take a Look

 I created two large tubs one for art tools and the other for drawing tools.  This allowed me to maximize my space and provide many different options for the children to create.

 I placed small metal containers in the tub to hold all the different art tools.  (hole punches, scissors, glue sticks, fancy cutting scissors, and picture hole stamps)

To finish off the area a placed a crayon melt picture that my son made for me before leaving to college.  I love looking that way and seeing something from him.
