A Peek At Our Week

We have been very busy with pumpkin science projects like sink and float, what's inside a pumpkin and what will happen?

After the children were done exploring what was inside the pumpkin we cut up the pumpkin and placed the pieces inside a glass jar.  What had the children predict what they thought would happen to the pumpkin inside the jar.

We will keep you post with pictures at what is happening to our pumpkin.

What will you be doing for the Month of October.

Take a sneak peak at what I have planned for all of my little ones.

I will be staring off the month with this fabulous book Pumpkin Heads by Wendell Minor. 

Before reading the book we will be having a shred reading discussion

For the first two weeks I will be blinding in the two lesson plans Scarecrows and Pumpkin Patch that can be found on TPT and TNB 

I will also be adding the Scarecrow art that I found on Katherine Maries Blog.  Hop on over to her blog and you will not be disappointed with all of her cleaver ideas.

I will also be using Pumpkin on the Move for a movement activity by Leah Perry.  You can find it on her TPT store.

For the last two weeks of October I will be using the units Math Fun with Spider and Monster Mash Lesson Plan these can be found on TPT and TNB

I will also be adding these cute little scrap monsters from Katherine Maries Blog.  

I will be reading this 5 Little Monsters Hiding Under the Bed by 123 Learning Curriculum

Paper Bag Crows

The children made paper bag crows today in the creative art center. We set out brown lunch bags, newspaper, trays of black paint with brushes or sponges, wiggle eyes, buttons, orange triangles, feathers and black yarn.

This center was a huge hit with the children today. Most of the children wanted to make two; they hung one up on our tree and took one home.

Scare All The Crows Away

Over the last week or so crows have been taking over our play area. Pecans are falling from the trees and the annual crows are back for the feast. The children have been observing them as they come in and also through the windows. Some days I feel like I am living in the old movie “Birds” so if you can’t beet them you might as well join them and start a lesson on crows and also scarecrow.

The children brought in old cloths from home and they stuffed them with news paper. We are going to vote on what to use for the face pillow case, broom, tin can or a rack. We will graph the results.
